Zimmermann Telegram

Cartoon by Clifford Berryman reflects American attitudes about the expedition - History By Mail

This March, 1916 cartoon deals with Mexico and United States borders. When Pancho Villa attacked Columbus, New Mexico on March 8-9, 1916, President Wilson retaliated with the punitive Mexican Expedition from March 14, 1916 to February 7, 1917 during the Mexican Revolution of 1910-1910. In this cartoon, Uncle Sam says "I've Had About Enough of This" as he jumps over the border fence with Mexico to chase after Pancho Villa.
